UAE government keen on family cohesiveness: Al Roumi

Rome - UAE Minister of Social Affairs HE Maryam Al Roumi, said the UAE leadership is keen to keep UAE family together through advocating community welfare and progress in all fields.

She added in a paper titled: "The Woman and Family in GCC Countries- UAE an example", that the UAE has exerted since its inception huge efforts in the field of education, putting the human resources investment on the top of the development objectives.

The UAE minister stressed during the first day of the GCC days in Italy, the development of woman in the GCC countries, reiterating that the UAE's position to finding legislative environment for empowerment of women in regard to the family and rights.

"After appointment of women as judges, ambassadors and marriage officials the last impediment was lifted for women in the UAE to occupy the top positions without social restriction", Al Roumi said, indicating that the UAE national women in the Federal National Assembly, are represented by 22.5 per cent and in the Cabinet by 17.5 per cent- four ministers.

She noted that the family is the first social nucleus of the community and the cultural pot from where children get values. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
