The UAE on Wednesday expressed its hope that the agreement between Afghan factions to form an interim government would be the beginning for a national reconciliation.

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Wednesday telephoned UN special envoy on Afghanistan Lakhdar Ibrahimi to congratulate him on the success of the UN-sponsored conference on Afghanistan.

Sheikh Hamdan praised Ibrahimi for his relentless efforts to narrow differences among the Afghan factions and expressed hope that the agreement would lead to a comprehensive national reconciliation and reconstruction of the country.
