The UAE has set itself a unique and distinct approach to humanitarian and charity works, according to H.H Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, wife of the President and Chairperson of General Women's Union (GWU). Sheikha Fatima, who is also the Honorary President of the Re d Crescent Society (RCS), said the Ramadan and Eid festival, co-organized annually by the Society and the General Exhibitions Corporation, " mirrors intercommunication between national and expatriate philanthropists from one hand and their brethren in humanity, who suffer hardships and stresses of life, from the other."

In a statement on the occasion of Ramadan and Eid Festival 2003, which kicked off in Abu Dhabi yesterday, Sheikha Fatima said the UAE, under its farsighted leadership, had employed its resources for benevolent activities for the sake of the needy. "A representative of the UAE in charity works, the RCS has built bridges of love and peace with all nations of the world through the pioneering programmes and projects it carries out," she noted.
