His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has stressed that the UAE reached the status of progress in human, material resources and etched its position on the global map of international specialised exhibitions, which are the fruits of the vision and integrity of approach, thanks to the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

He said yesterday while touring Dubai International Airshow 2011 in its 12th edition, deemed the largest edition of Dubai Airshows since its inception 22 years ago, that "Dubai Airshow has grown in terms of advancement and number of world major exhibitors, visitors or deals. This reflects significance of Dubai Airshow as a major exemplary launch pad for manufacturers to showcase their various products to the countries in the region and meet the market requirements".

Sheikh Mohammed added that the UAE is keen today to enter into aviation industry and defence technique with dependence on qualified Emirati cadres to acquire the latest technology in this respect through effective partnership between the local companies and international ones.

"As we celebrate the 40th anniversary of our union, we are certainly sure that our endeavours for progress, prosperity and welfare are limitless", he said, indicating that the success of Dubai Airshow and the increasing confidence being attained by the Airshow, are other indications of progress being experienced by the UAE under wise leadership of Sheikh Khalifa, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Members of Supreme Council, Their Highnesses Ruler of Emirates.

The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince praised the efforts of organising committee, wishing them more successes in the next editions. "They have proven Emiratis are efficient when it comes to managing and organising major sessions".

He visited a number of pavilions of major exhibitors at Dubai Airshow. Sheikh Mohammed toured the local, Arab and international companies' pavilions, which include the demonstrations of aviation industry technology. He was briefed about the latest aviation and space technology and devices for airports and modern air defence systems.

About the current negotiations on Rafale deal, Sheikh Mohammed said, "Thanks to French President Sarkozy, France could not have done more diplomatically or politically to secure the Rafale deal. Bi-lateral relations have never been stronger and his constant personal intervention in this process has sustained Dassault at the forefront of our considerations. Regrettably Dassault seems unaware that all the diplomatic and political will in the World cannot overcome uncompetitive and unworkable commercial terms." - Emirates News Agency, WAM
