UAE humanitarian assistance to Iraqi people will continue: Sheikha Fatima

Cairo - H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the President's wife and President of the UAE General Women's Union, GWU, said the UAE humanitarian assistance to the brotherly Iraqi people will continue and that there was a lot to be done in line with the directives of President H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who always endeavours to bring together the Arab rank and extend assistance to all sister countries at all times, particularly in times of crisis. In an interview to the Egyptian "Roze Al Yousuf” magazine, Sheikha Fatima underlined that the Arab nation is passing through a difficult stage and a serious turning point in its history.



The Arab woman and her community are inseparable and cannot be completely isolated, she said, adding that Iraq is a dear country for us and we cannot stand by and watch the Iraqi people lack the minimum requirements for living. Sheikha Fatima pointed out that the UAE Red Crescent Society, RCS, in accordance with Sheikh Zayed's directives and follow up of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and RCS Chairman, has carried out an extensive humanitarian programme in support of the Iraqi people at the cost of more than Dh 18 million, which was executed in three phases, during the blockade, before the war and after the war on Iraq.



She said that during her current visit to Egypt, she will discuss ways of enhancing avenues of cooperation for the good of women in the two countries and the Arab world at large. On the UAE woman, Sheikha Fatima expressed her satisfaction and pride at the achievements made by the UAE woman in all walks of life, as well as UAE's woman's contributions to community issues.
