The UAE junior chess players returned with glory after participating in the Arab junior chess championship held in the Republic of Yemen. The UAE players bagged four medals in this keenly-contested event. Abdullah Hassan emerged as an International Master by winning the under-16 title. He won all his nine games and will now qualify for the IM title awarded by the Federation of Intentional Chess (FIDE). Yahya Saleh of UAE took the silver with 7.5 points and just missed the title by a mere half point. His rival Fouad from Yemen edged to the title by winning the individual encounter in an earlier match.
