UAE leads online job opportunities in ME

The UAE leads in the Middle East for online job opportunities as the country registered a robust annual growth of 33 per cent, according to the latest edition of the Monster Employment Index.

Hospitality recorded the most notable growth with 35 per cent over the year in June, while healthcare ranked top in annual growth at 32 per cent amongst the occupation groups.

Kuwait was at second with a 30 per cent year-on-year growth in online job opportunities in June, followed Qatar (23 per cent) and Oman (20 per cent).

The Monster Employment Index Middle East recorded 39 per cent on an annual basis.

Hospitality led all industry sectors with a 52 per cent annual growth, while retail, trade and logistics continued to register strong growth of more than 40 per cent

"The Monster Employment Index Middle East continues to exhibit strong annual growth in online recruitment activity undertaken by regional employers,” said Sanjay Modi, managing director of Monster.com for India, Middle East and South East Asia.

Majority of sectors and occupational groups recorded positive annual growth, Modi added.

Production and manufacturing recorded a 46 per cent growth in the region, while automotive and ancillary, up 41 per cent, continued to remain amidst the top growth sectors in June.

Oil and gas, and BFSI were up three per cent, registering the lowest annual growth.

Among occupation groups, sales exhibited strongest growth year-over-year (58 per cent), followed by engineering and production, (27 per cent) and travel and tourism occupations (24 per cent). Legal professionals (down 18 per cent) registered the lowest annual growth.

The Monster Employment Index is a monthly gauge of online job demand in Middle East-based on a real-time review of tens of thousands of employer job opportunities culled from a large representative selection of career Web sites and online job listings.

The index does not reflect the trend of any one advertiser or source, but is an aggregate measure of the change in job listings across the industry. – Khaleej Times
