The UAE has been inducted as a member of the Arab associations of UNESCO clubs, thus becoming the 11th member of the association, which is based in the Egyptian town of Alexander. The Association currently has 80 clubs in 10 Arab countries.

The UAE University, in line with the initiatives of Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, announced recently its approval to set up next month the first UNESCO club in its women's colleges, to be the first of such club in the country.

The inauguration of the club on May 13 will coincide with the launching of a special assistance programme named "Es'ad el Quloub" (Pleasing the Hearts" which aimed at providing assistance to the needy in the UAE and various parts of the world. The programme will be launched by the UAE University in collaboration with the Private Department of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, who is going to provide that assistance.
