Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Authority, on Wednesday ordered the swift delivery of relief materials to the stampede victims in Baghdad.

Sheikh Hamdan issued instructions to the RCA to provide all possible support to the wounded and help hospitals meet their requirements of medicines and supplies. The Iraqi Government praised the UAE for its rapid response to the tragedy. Khalifa Nasser Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the RCA Board, said the Authority has already started implementing Sheikh Hamdan's directives. Al Suwaidi said an urgent meeting was held at the RCA office in Baghdad. They decided to set up an emergency room to work round-the-clock to assess the situation. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
