MILAN: Supervisors, employees, participants and Takatof volunteers at the UAE pavilion at Expo Milan 2015, organised a colourful Eid Al Adha celebration at the pavilion to showcase the UAE heritage to the visitors.

Emirates News Agency (WAM) spoke to them regarding their feelings as they celebrated Eid Al Adha at the Expo Milan, away from their families and friends. Abdullah Al Aidarous, Deputy Commissioner-General of the UAE pavilion at Expo Milan 2015, said he was happy to celebrate Eid Al Adha with his extended family represented by all the administrators and volunteers from the Takatof programme whose work helped paint a smile on the faces of visitors to the pavilion, which receives between 7,000-7,500 visitors daily.

He added that the pavilion's management held special celebrations to mark Eid Al Adha to reflect the UAE heritage and culture to the visitors. Al Aidarous said a high-profile delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by the UAE Ambassador and Consul General in Italy and a number of Emirati diplomats, attended the event. Among others present were a number of GCC nationals.

He noted that the celebrations will be held again at the UAE pavilion on 20th October, 2015, a day dedicated to mark the Emirati National Day at Expo Milan.

Al Aidarous said the volunteers of Takatof programme taking part at Expo Milan received huge support from National Media Council to help them acquire occupational skills and personal experiences, as well as exchange expertise with their international peers.

Emirati volunteer Hamdan Al Ka'abi, an architect by profession, said his participation at Expo Milan was the first one abroad, adding that the celebration held by the pavilion management made him feel at home.

On her part, Reem Al Rumaithi, a graduate from the Zayed University, said she was overwhelmed with joy over the Eid Al Adha celebrations held by the pavilion management. "I felt at home," she said. – Emirates News Agency, WAM -
