The United Arab Emirates' national pavilion at Zaragoza International Expo (Expo Zaragoza 2008) is gearing up to attract millions of visitors, according to the Deputy Director of the National Media Council (NMC).

Salem Al Ameri, who is also Deputy Commissioner of the pavilion, overseen by the NMC, said the UAE's national pavilion was considered one of the biggest in Expo Zaragoza 2008 and that 8 million visitors were expected to visit the pavilion.

"The pavilion will not only display UAE products but also seeks to make visitors feel they are actually in the UAE. Our team is planning to use hi-tech media to attract visitors to the pavilion which we see as UAE's window to the world," Al Ameri said.

Al Ameri praised Spanish officials for the great enthusiasm shown in UAE's participation.

Expo Zaragoza 2008 will be held with the topic of "Water and sustainable development". The event is being placed in a meander of the river Ebro. Some 104 countries, including the UAE, will take part in the Expo.

"The 580-square meter pavilion will also highlight UAE's efforts and initiatives in the fields of clean and renewable energy, as well as setting up green cities. A special focus will be on Masdar initiative and its goals for sustainable development," Al Ameri said.

"The UAE will showcase its efforts and achievements in water conservation, environment protection and alternative energy and demonstrate its pioneering experiment in renewable energy and green cities, which will be an eye opener for the rest of the world and also an opportunity to intensify economic and cultural cooperation between the UAE and other countries." – Emirates News Agency, WAM
