Beirut - A UAE plane carrying 40 tons of relief assistance landed yesterday at the Rafik Al Hariri International Airport as part of an air-bridge between the UAE and Lebanon to deliver relief supplies to the Lebanese people.

A UAE Red Crescent Society team, led by Dr. Saleh Musa Al Ta'ie, Director of the RCS' Relief and Emergency Department, currently in Lebanon, received the relief supplies on the Airport's tarmac before handing them over to the Lebanon Red Cross Society and the Nabatiya Municipality.

The delivery brings to more than 1500 tons the total relief supplies delivered to Lebanon by the UAE since the beginning of the Solidarity 2 Operation to date.

Later, the team handed the relief materials for distribution to the hospitals. Salam Badr El Din, Representative of Al Nahjd Islamic Organisation in Al Nabatiyah, said the materials will be distributed to the hospitals in the city.

The team also distributed 4,000 food parcels to the displaced families in Al Shiyah, in presence of Randa Barri, wife of the Lebanese Parliamentary Speaker. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
