Damascus - The United Arab Emirates is determined to provide every possible support to all Lebanese, irrespective of their creed, says Yousif Mohammed Al Madfaie, UAE Ambassador to Syria. During a joint press conference with the UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) held last Thursday, Al Madfaie the UAE seeks to help all Lebanese facing difficulties as a result of the current situation.

"Our approach (in helping Lebanese) is simple: talk less, do more. However, what we have been offering is not dearer than the blood shed in Lebanon," he said. Al Madfaie stressed the need for immediate ceasefire to avoid more blood-letting and to restore stability in Lebanon. He expressed the country's readiness to provide more support to Lebanon.

Nasser Mohammed Al Otaiba, who heads the RCS team in Syria, said that right from the start of the crisis, the RCS acted swiftly to the instructions by President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of RCS.

He added that the relief materials are being distributed to the affected people in coordination with the UAE embassy in Beirut and Lebanese Red Cross Society. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
