The UAE Red Crescent Society will soon start the reconstruction of the Jenin refugee camp destroyed by the Israeli occupation army in its recent aggression against the Palestinian territories. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Society, RCS, today said that the Society was ready to rebuild the destroyed houses and public facilities to enable displaced families to return to their homes as early as possible.

He added that the RCS would coordinate with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, UNRWA, and the Palestinian Public Works Ministry for the immediate start of the reconstruction work. Sheikh Hamdan hailed the fund raising and telethon campaigns launched by Mohammed Bin Rashid Charity and Humanitarian Organisation and Dubai Television under the title "We are all for Palestine" and the Emirates Media Incorporated, EMI, under the banner of "For You Palestine".

He said the total proceeds of the two fund raising campaigns reached Dh350 million. Sheikh Hamdan made a glowing tribute to the UAE media for its pioneering role in supporting the steadfastness of the Palestinian people. He also thanked the people and institutions that had made the donations for the just cause of the Palestinian people. "This tremendous response shows the solidarity of the UAE people, both citizens and residents, with the Palestinian people who are living in tragic and inhuman conditions," Sheikh Hamdan concluded.
