UAE ratifies Arab charter on human rights

The UAE deposited its instrument of ratification of the Arab Charter on Human Rights on Tuesday, becoming the seventh Arab country to ratify this charter after Jordan, Bahrain, Algeria, Syria, Palestine and Libya. By this ratification, the charter will enter into force after 60 days; March 15, 2008 The UAE also deposited its ratification of the statute of Arab Security and Peace Council which entered into force last June 19. Other countries that ratified the establishment of this council are Jordan, Bahrain, Tunis, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Libya, Jordan, Egypt and Yemen. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
