Stockholm - In line with the directives of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the United Arab Emirates is ready to extend helping hand to the afflicted Lebanese people and government to overcome the destructive impacts of the Israeli aggression and support Lebanon's recovery, said UAE Minister of State for Financial and Industrial Affairs Dr. Mohammed Khalfan bin Kharbash.

Addressing representatives of 50 countries to the International Donor Conference for Lebanon which is focused on humanitarian needs and early reconstruction and is being arranged in close cooperation with the Government of Lebanon and the United Nations, the head of the UAE delegation to the international conference said the UAE has already launched emergency humanitarian Lebanon operations through direct air, land and sea humanitarian bridges to carry immediate food, medical and other emergency aid to the war-ravaged country.

The UAE has also operated makeshift field hospitals in Lebanon and airlifted the injured Lebanese to UAE hospitals, added Kharbash.

Kharbash said the UAE pledged reconstruction of hospitals, schools and fishing facilities in Southern Lebanon which were destroyed by the Israeli war machine. The UAE also showed readiness to launch de-mining operations in Southern Lebanon.

Kharbash stressed the need for international solidarity with Lebanon and called for the international community to shoulder its responsibility towards this country by dispatching immediate assistance and exerting efforts towards making it a base for peace and stability in the whole region.
