UAE receives Brunei's decision on free-entry of UAE citizens

The UAE has received Brunei's decision to allow UAE citizens enter its territory and stay for 30 days without requirements of visa. In March Brunei joined the list of countries which have agreed to the UAE's proposal of exempting UAE citizens of pre-entry visa requirements. Brunei's move was in response to a UAE decision to give citizens of Brunei free entry along with other 33 nationalities. Director of Consulate Affairs at UAE Foreign Ministry Mohammed Abdul Jalil said the move is part of UAE's persistent efforts to enjoy similar privilege it gives to other countries.

In this context, Abdul Jalil led a team from the foreign and interior ministries to the European Union signatories to Schengen accord to explain facilities accorded by the UAE to subjects of these countries and to highlight the importance of strengthening relations with these countries. He said that the team asked for a tit-for-tat treatment to the UAE citizens. 'The UAE has received positive feedback from some countries- Italy, Spain, Belgium and Austria - and is still waiting response from others,' he added. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
