The UAE is keenly interested in supporting and promoting the stability, security and national unity of Iraq as well as in bringing about the widest possible participation by all Iraqi political, social and economic figures and blocs in the building of Iraq away from violence and rifts, stressed President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Sheikh Khalifa made his remarks during a meeting yesterday at Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi with Head of the United Iraqi Alliance -UIA- Abdulaziz Al Hakeem who is on a current visit to the UAE.

"Establishing security in Iraq would be in the interest of the whole area", stressed Sheikh Khalifa. "The deteriorating security situation in Iraq is one of the reasons why violence is still going on and this makes it necessary for all Iraqis to unite and close ranks for the sake of Iraq's security and sovereignty", added Sheikh Khalifa.

"The ongoing sad events in Iraq should not be discouraging faithful Iraqis who are seeking to boost the sovereignty and unity of Iraq as well as the quick return of Iraqi people to rebuilding and development", he remarked.

Sheikh Khalifa called on the international community to take necessary actions to support Iraq to achieve security, peace and stability for its people. On his part, Al Hakeem hailed Sheikh Khalifa's stances and support for Iraqi people and for the unity of their country.

The UIA's leader further praised the UAE's ongoing humanitarian aid and support for Iraqi people through the UAE's Red Crescent Society and other humanitarian organizations. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
