Quetta - The relief force of the UAE Armed Forces have moved to the Sindh and Balochistan provinces to start the humanitarian operations in areas affected by recent floods in Pakistan.

Based on the appeal of the General Command of Pakistan Army, the relief forces had completed two phases of rescue and relief operations in the Punjab province, the worst-hit region in the devastating floods.

The Pakistan Army hailed the role of the UAE Relief force in setting up the air bridge between the regions to implement the rescue operations as tens of thousands of people were stranded in the submerged areas. The UAE Force also provided logistic support to evacuate flood victims into safe locations and to deliver immediate relief assistance to far flung areas.

The Pakistani army also expressed appreciation for the assistance provided by the UAE relief force and its efficiency in coordinating relief missions, and taking logistical and supervisory positions. Pakistani officials also held in high esteem, the continued support of the UAE leadership, government and the people to help the flood victims.

Commander of the UAE Relief Force Brigadier-General Abdul Rahman Ibrahim bin Abdul Aziz said that relief operations have now spread to Balochistan and Sindh provinces. After arriving in capital Quetta, he conducted a reconnaissance mission with the help of his team to inspect the situation in the neighbourhoods in preparation for transporting the displaced people to the quartering areas. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
