UAE rescue team has arrived in Blakot to assist in the ongoing rescue operations and to provide assistance to the victims of the devastating earthquake that has killed and maimed tens of thousands of people.

The team had earlier held a meeting with the Pakistan Armed Forces to coordinate efforts in the operation. According to Dr. Jasim Mohammed Jasim Ba-Ramaitha, Director of Operations at the Dubai Police Headquarters, who is heading the UAE rescue team, his team is currently engaged actively in the search and rescue operations in the affected areas.

Meanwhile, Captain Ahmed Ateeq, Chief of the Land Rescue Section of the Dubai Police Headquarters' Operations Department, has said that the UAE rescue team had searched the eastern and western areas of the Blakot River, adding that all indications show there were no survivors.

He said the team continued to distribute relief assistance to survivors and those affected by the quake, adding that the team was also participating in the retrieving of bodies under the rubbles in the town of Blakot, which have been destroyed by 90 per cent. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
