UAE scores invaluable gains under Sheikh Khalifa: Abdullah bin Zayed

The course and vision of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on the UAE foreign policy, represent the cornerstone of the foreign policy, said HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Foreign Minister.

If we precisely focus on the foreign policy achievements, we will confidently say that the UAE foreign policy earned invaluable gains as the country further bolstered relations with Arab, Muslim and friendly countries under Sheikh Khalifa", he added.

UAE Foreign Minister underscored that Khalifa follows the principles of transparent balanced foreign policy as outlined by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Commenting on the selection of Sheikh Khalifa by the U.S. Magazine, 'News Week' among 50 influential personalities in the world, Sheikh Abdullah reiterated that the UAE foreign policy under Sheikh Khalifa has been characterised with strength that impacted on the reputation of the country and its relations with other countries.

"We are further boosting the strategic partnerships with many countries and providing assistance to sisterly and friendly countries. We were also keen to observe our international commitments by endorsing many international agreements", he added.

Sheikh Abdullah said the UAE has been indulged in an active extensive diplomacy as many world leaders visit the UAE to meet Sheikh Khalifa, indicating that those visits were culminated with signing of agreements and joint venture deals. President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President, Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and officials at the Foreign Ministry paid visits to foreign countries. Those visits made impacts at different international forums.

"The recent success to host the International Renewable Energy Authority (Irena) in Abu Dhabi, speaks volumes about effectiveness of the UAE foreign policy. Such a success highlights the UAE position in the world and reflects amazing diplomatic approaches led by a number of UAE ministers and officials", UAE Foreign Minister said.

He noted that "this success would not have been possible without the directives from Sheikh Khalifa", adding that "We will be the first developing country to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes with transparency and as per measures and specifications set by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Based on those successes, Sheikh Abdullah noted, the selection of Sheikh Khalifa as one of 50 world influential figures "is a proof of success of the policies taken by Sheikh Khalifa". – Emirates News Agency, WAM
