UAE stands ready to back development and stability in Darfur

Khartoum - The UAE is ready to play its aspired role in funding humanitarian requirements or building projects that contribute to bringing about stability and development to Darfur region in west Sudan. The UAE gesture of supporting Sudan was announced by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mohammed Hussein Al Sha'ali during an address he delivered today at the Arab conference to tackle humanitarian situation in Darfur hosted by Sudan.

Al Sha'ali told the gathering, which was opened by Sudanese President Omar Al Bashir, about a series of humanitarian initiatives launched by the UAE to upgrade education and knowledge, the latest one of them were the Dubai Cares campaign which seeks to provide primary education to one million children in developing countries. The UAE minister welcomed efforts being made by the government of Sudan in cooperation with the African Union, Arab League and the UN to reach a lasting peace agreement with other parties.
