UAE takes part in UN charitable Bazaar

Geneva - The UAE has participated in the United Nations female Bazaar organised every year at (Palais des Nations), the UN palace in Geneva, Switzerland to raise funds for charity institutions worldwide. This is the third time that UAE is participating and it is supported by HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation and Chairperson of UAE Women's Federation.
Sergei A. Ordzhonikidze, Director General of UN Office at Geneva inaugurated the UAE pavilion that was visited in a huge number by ambassadors, diplomats and members of missions to the United Nations.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Mrs. Blanca Mazal, president of UN Women's Guild and organizer of the bazaar. She was keen on visiting the UAE pavilion to express her thanks and gratitude to HH Sheikha Fatima for supporting humanitarian programs of the UN Women's Guild, especially in the field of family care.
The UAE pavilion was supervised by Mrs. Amna Al Za'abi, the wife of UAE Ambassador, Obeid Salem Al Za'abi, UAE Permanent Representative to UN's European Headquarters in Geneva. It included traditional handcrafts, food and clothes, which reflected a picture of UAE's traditions, heritage and culture.
In a statement to Emirates News Agency (WAM), Ambassador Obeid Salem Al Za'abi said: "The internationally unique position of HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak comes in appreciation of her efforts to support a number of local and global programs aiming to develop women's role in the community and provide suitable care for children to be raised in a sound family, which will turn him into a good active member of the society in the future." Al Za'abi pointed out that UN Women's Guild, also organized a special day to show the achievements of the UAE in the field of woman development on October 7th, 2009, at the Palais des Nations. On this occasion, Al Za'abi presented a traditional gift to the Director General of the UN Office at Geneva. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
