A delegation from UAE Red Crescent Society attended a ceremony in Jakarta to lay foundation stone of the Emirates Orphanage in Jakarta. The orphanage will be built by the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Foundation for Charity and Humanitarian Works, in cooperation with the Shafia University.

"The orphanage will cater for more than 264 children who lost their parents in Tsunami disaster," Abdullah Al Mahmoud, head of the RCS delegation said after ending a visit to Indonesia during which the delegation toured the Tsunami-hit areas and inspected progress of work at a project to build 1,033 houses for survivors in Banda Aceh.

Al Mahmoud pointed out that RCS offered aid to all Tsunami affected countries, including Sri Lanka, Thailand, India, Maldives and the worst hit Indonesia. Earlier, the delegation members were received by Alawai Shihab, Advisor of the Indonesian President for Middle East Affairs, who praised UAE's humanitarian initiatives and thanked the RCS for setting up developmental projects to help people affected by Tsunami.
