Two UAE planes carrying 80 tonnes of medical and food supplies will fly to Palestine on Saturday as part of the airlift initiated by the UAE to support the Palestinian people. Eng Sultan Bin Heddah Al Suwaidi, CEO of the Sharjah-based Charity International (CI) CEO, said on Thursday that the consignment includes 24 electrical beds, medicine, food and clothes. 'One plane is sent by CI and the other by the UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS). The planes are the eighth and ninth in a series of planes carrying relief material from the UAE to Palestine,' the Gulf Today reported. The delegation, chaired by Ali Saif Al Nasseri, RCS board member and including Suwaidi and Dr Saleh Al Ta'e, head of foreign projects and relief at RCS, will visit Ramallah, Jericho, Umm Al Fahm, Jerusalem and Jenin to distribute the materials and inspects projects implemented by UAE societies, he added. The delegation will supply medicine to Al Aqsa Mosque clinic, Sheikh Zayed Hospital in the West Bank and the field hospital in Ramallah and visit Umm Al Fahm Municipality, he said. The medical materials will benefit a large number of Palestinian patients, said Sheikh Mohammed Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, head of the Sharjah Medical District. The delegation will make field visits to distribute clothes on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr, Suwaidi said. CI and RCS received lists of materials needed by Palestinians through the UAE Friends Society in Palestine, Sheikh Zayed Hospital and the field hospital. CI has received donations from UAE public institutions, businessmen and the public, Sowed said, adding that the demand was higher than expected which prompts the CI to send another plane. Eng Rashid Al-leem, CI board member, said that a philanthropist has donated five tonnes of dates, the harvest from his date farm. The RCS is one of the effective societies operating in Palestine, Sowed said, adding that it is tiling the floor inside and outside Al Aqsa Mosque. The carpet of the holy mosque was supplied by Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, he said. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
