UAE to send urgent assistance to quake victims in Morocco

The UAE announced yesterday that it would send urgent relief supplies to victims of the earthquake which hit Hassima area in Morocco. Announcing the UAE prompt response, Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) said the move was in line with the directives of President H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.



Sheikh Hamdan also ordered the RCS to organise urgent delivery of the relief items so as to alleviate the suffering of the victims. Khalifa Nasser Al Suweidi, Chairman of the Board RCS of Directors revealed that a delegation of the RCS will leave tomorrow for Morocco to assess the needs and also organise the possibility of purchasing relief items from the local markets. The RCS delegation will liase with its Moroccan counterpart. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
