The UAE on has called on the European Union (EU) in general and France in particular to adopt a more active role in putting an end to the Israeli repressive practices against the Palestinians, ending the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories and establishing a Palestinian state.
The UAE reaffirmed its support for the international efforts to combat terrorism and emphasised the need for distinction between terrorism and the right of people to resist against the occupation.
The remarks were made by Assistant Undersecretary for Political Affairs at the Foreign Ministry Abdullah Rashid Al Nuaimi during a meeting with the French Ambassador Francois Gouyette. The French ambassador explained his country's vision regarding the Palestinian cause in the light of the recent statement made by French Foreign Minister Hubert Vedrine, during which he stressed the need to put an end to Israel's suppression of Palestinians, return to the negotiating table and declaration of a Palestinian state.
