The UAE voiced its deep concern over the continued Israeli aggressions and repressions against the Palestinian people and called on the international community to set up a UN emergency mechanism to protect Palestinian civilians. 'We demand the UN Security Council to carry its responsibility by forcing Israeli government to immediately halt acts of aggression, violation of human rights and building of settlements on the Arab lands,' Hamad Al Habsi, member of UAE delegation to the UN session on Israel's violations of Palestinian human rights, said yesterday. Al Habsi cited figures and facts made by special UN fact-finding committee to disclose Israeli repressive and expansionist policies in the Arab lands. He also appealed to international donors to support the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) so as to enable it meet the growing requirements of refugees.
