Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan has called upon the international community to make concerted efforts to end Israeli atrocities against Palestinians in the occupied territories. During a meeting with former US Assistant State Secretary for Near East Affairs Edward Djerjian, Sheikh Sultan also called for the need to declare the Middle East as a region free from weapons of mass destruction in order to reduce the tension and reinforce peace and security in the area. Sheikh Sultan praised the relations between the UAE and the US which he said was characterised by a sense of responsibility, mutual respect and co-operation based on common interest. Besides bilateral ties, Sheikh Sultan and Djerjian reviewed venues of co-operation between the James Baker III Institute for Public Policy and the Zayed Centre for Co-ordination and Follow Up.
