UAE urges international community to condemn Israeli massacres

Geneva - The United Arab Emirates has called upon the international community to condemn the Israeli massacres and genocide committed against innocent Palestinian children, women and elderly people.

In her speech before the session of the human rights council held to discuss the current situation in Gaza, Sheikha Najlaa Al Qasimi, first secretary in UAE mission to the UN's Geneva headquarters, said the continuous atrocities committed by Israel against the Palestinians come as a result of the international silence and encouragement over these violations, adding that the UN stands helpless.

"Despite its young history, the human rights council has been watching the plight of Palestinian people who suffer from occupation for more than half a century and are being subjected to worst kinds of discrimination and oppression while this council, like all previous UN bodies, is unable to implement its resolutions," Sheikha Najlaa said.

She added that Israel's first crime was its continued occupation of Arab territories, denying people there the right for self determination, blockade, destruction of infrastructure facilities and construction of the wall and settlements.

"The continuous occupation is considered a main reason for depriving Arab people in Palestine and the Golan Heights of their basic rights in decent life, food, healthcare, freedom of expression and freedom of practicing their religious rites. Israel's perpetuated blockade and violation of the human rights give the world a clear indication that such policies will continue, unless the international community stands to stop such violations." – Emirates News Agency, WAM
