The United States was asked to play a more effective role in seeking peace in the Middle East and ending the dangerous and continual Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, when U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney met President His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan on 16 March.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, who said that Sheikh Zayed and Cheney discussed the current international campaign to fight terrorism and the latest developments in the Palestinian territories and the region.

The talks also covered efforts to revive the Middle East peace process in light of the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and aspects of joint cooperation.
