Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and President of the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA), affirmed the UAE's resolve to support programmes of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) or Doctors Without Borders so as to pursue its effective contributions in humanitarian and medical fields.

"The RCA gives special attention to enhancing partnerships with international humanitarian organisations and always strives to bolster its relations and coordinate its programmes with these agencies out of its belief in the urgency of collective action as the only way to respond to the daunting challenges the humanitarian and relief works face,' Sheikh Hamdan said when he received last night Jean-Hervy Bradol, President of MSF, who is currently visiting the country.

Sheikh Hamdan also praised MSF's humanitarian role across the world and expressed the UAE's sincere desire to further strengthen cooperation with the international leading humanitarian organisation.

Bradol paid tribute to the UAE for its extending assistance to developing and poor countries and for its swift delivery of relief to needy people around the world under direct support from President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and follow up of Sheikh Hamdan. He also gave special thanks to the UAE for supporting MSF's efforts to handle disasters and calamities in different parts of the world. He stated that he apprised Sheikh Hamdan about humanitarian programmes being carried out by his organisation in some catastrophe-hit regions. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
