The 'Our Hearts with the Syrians' Campaign, a humanitarian initiative aimed at supporting Syrian refugees who are facing the severe cold wave in Syria's neighbouring countries, has raised Dh18.1 million in cash donations up to 2 p.m. on its first day.

Secretary General of Red Crescent Authority, Dr. Ateeq Al Falahi, said the three-day campaign received wide response from corporate and individual donors.

Generous donations to the fundraiser came from corporate donors and charities including the Dar Al Ber Society (Dh 3.6 million); Al Ansari Exchange and Al Hilal Bank (Dh1 million each), and businessman Khalifa Al Naboodah (Dh1.5 million).

Yesterday, the RCA campaign received an early donation of Dh10 million from Dubai Islamic Bank Humanitarian Foundation, and Dh1 million from individual donors through SMS text messages.

Expressing satisfaction with the immediate response of donors, the RCA senior official urged all people to contribute to the agency's humanitarian effort in the remaining two days. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
