The Red Crescent Authority (RCA) yesterday announced that it will deliver emergency relief aid to Syrian refugees in Jordan immediately after the humanitarian agency receives the contributions of donors to its "Our Hearts with the Syrians" Campaign.

Dr Hamdan Musallam al Mazrouei, RCA Board Chairman, in a press briefing at RCA's head office in Abu Dhabi, said the campaign is in implementation of the directives of the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and is supervised by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of Red Crescent Authority (RCA).

Al Mazrouie appealed to donors to respond urgently to the campaign in order to help the refugees who suffer from bitter cold weather in the camps.

The RCA official stressed that the UAE humanitarian agency is also prepared to provide emergency aid to refugees in Iraq, Lebanon in addition to those in Jordan.

He noted that RCA teams are assessing the needs of refugees in Jordan and that they have already started delivering aid in the camps.

In its campaign, RCA prioritises the delivery of food, clothing, blankets and heating devices to the targeted refugees, Al Mazrouie noted. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
