UAE's Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed second most powerful Arab in Gulf Business list

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group was named the second most powerful Arab in Gulf Business Magazine's list of Top 100 Powerful Arabs for 2013 which was topped by Saudi Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company (KSA).

Also from the UAE, Mohamed Ali Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar Properties, came sixth place while Dr. Abdalla Alnajjar, President of the Arab Science and Technology Foundation (ASTF), who was fourth most influential Arab figure in science and technology, came in the 42nd place this year.

Al Najjar was recognised for his work and support to exceptional research activities conducted by scientists from the Arab region by attracting investments from around the world.

In the third place this year, came Khalid Al Falih (KSA) CEO of Aramco, followed in the fourth place by Ali Bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi (KSA) Petroleum and mineral resources minister, and in the fifth Moahmmed Al-Mady (KSA), CEO of SABIC.

In the seventh place came Mohammed El Erian (American of Egyptian descent) CEO of PIMCO, followed by Ahmad Mohamed Al-Sayed (Qatar) CEO of Qatar holding, Carlos Ghosn (Brazilian of Lebanese descent) CEO of Renault Nissan and finally Reem Asaad (KSA) women's rights advocate.

Last year, the young Tunisian Mohamed Bouazizi, seen as a symbol of the revolution of Tunisia, ranked first in the list of Top 100 Powerful Arabs for 2012. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
