Foreign Ministry Under-Secretary Saif Saeed bin Saad received in Abu Dhabi yesterday a delegation of the 'European troika' delegation to the country which included Ambassadors Marc Gedopt of Belgium and Manuel Pombo of Spain. They exchanged views on the draft of an anti-terrorism agreement currently being discussed at the United Nations. During talks with the delegation, Saad reiterated UAE's condemnation of all forms of terrorism and said the UAE had no objection to joining such an agreement, but with a condition that there should be a clear distinction between terrorism and people's legitimate right to resist foreign occupation.

The European delegation also raised for discussion the issue of human rights violation in some countries. Saad referred to utter disregard of human rights by some countries and cited the example of daily Israeli violations of the human rights of Palestinian people. The Foreign Ministry Under-Secretary also referred to the world's silence on the question of Israel's rights abuses whenever the issue was raised. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
