UN honours Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak

The United Nations has honoured H.H. Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of General Women's Union and of Family Development Foundation for her leading role in the support of the issues of women, family and children, as well as her pioneering role in the empowerment of Emirati women in politics.

Honouring Sheikha Fatima coincided with Women's International Day in appreciation to her initiatives in humanitarian, charitable and educational areas in various countries.

Sheikha Fatima was honoured during a gala event that was hosted by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in UAE at the Emirates Palace in the presences of a number of Sheikhas and senior officials.

H.H. Sheikha Alyazia Bin Saif Al Nahyan on behalf of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak received the Memorial Shield of Honour from Dr. Elissar Sarrouh, the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in the UAE. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
