A senior United Nations official has praised the UAE for its humanitarian assistance to poor nations. "The UAE support is instrumental in enabling the World Food Programme (WFP) to deliver drugs and food to the needy in many poor countries," said Dr. James Morris, WFP Executive Director.

Dr. Morris made these remarks during a meeting with H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, at his Za'abeil Palace in Dubai yesterday.

Dr. Morris cited Sheikh Mohammed's support of the Programme. The UN official further lauded Sheikh Mohammed's humanitarian initiative of creating Dubai City for Humanitarian Services, which will provide logistical and other support for WFP, particularly in the Middle East and Africa.
