United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees praised the noble initiatives of President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on helping the refugees worldwide. It reiterated that such continuous support help improve conditions of the refugees, as it curbs their suffering.

In a gratitude message delivered by the international body to Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Red Crescent Authority (RCA) HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on the World Refugee Day, the commissioner referred to the role of Sheikh Khalifa in alleviating suffering of the refugees, citing the recent US$10 million donation to the refugees in Syria. It also valued the efforts of Vice President, Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces, in providing needs of refugees.

Saad Akram, a senior official at the commissioner, commended HH Sheikha Fatima bin Mubarak, for launching a number of initiatives, which provided care and good living to the female refugees, citing the refugee women fund, which was launched upon an initiative from Sheikha Fatima.

The commissioner noted that it follows efforts exerted by the RCA under leadership of Sheikh Hamdan in the regions hard hit by the conflicts, crisis and calamities, applauding the role of the RCA in this respect. It added that the RCA is one of the major donors to the efforts of the refugees' commissioner. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
