US Ambassador, Michelle Sison, has praised President H. H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his efforts and big support to victims of Hurricane Katrina in the state of New Orleans.

In a statement she made on the fringe of a musical party held here under the theme: "Thanks to the Emirates", Sison said the American people will never forget the great concern and care shown by the government and people of the UAE towards the victims of the natural disaster.

Hosted by the Heritage Village of the Emirates Heritage Club, the party was organised by the US State Department and the US Embassy in the UAE in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Culture to express US appreciation for the countries that contributed in providing moral and material support to the victims of hurricane Katrina. The UAE donated USUS$100 million to the victims.

Sison expressed profound happiness and deep appreciation for what she had seen on display at the Heritage Village, which is an important centre for the spreading of local UAE heritage in the heart and mind of the younger generations. Yusuf Saeed Al Baloushi, Public Relations Officer of the Village, gave the US Ambassador a detailed briefing about the Village and its objectives.

Saqr Ghobash, Under Secretary for the Ministry of Information and Culture, who attended the event on behalf of Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Information and Culture, expressed happiness on the performance of the UAE national cultural troupe from the ministry, during the colourful event which attracted a large number of audience, including members of the diplomatic corps and other dignitaries.
