The constructive UAE-Syrian bilateral relations have set a unique model for inter-Arab relations and have always been promoted by the Syrian and UAE leaderships in the best interests of the UAE and Syrian peoples, according to a new book released by the Information Affairs Office of UAE Deputy Prime Minister.

"The UAE-Syrian Bilateral Relations" was released yesterday on the occasion of the current visit of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad to the UAE and his talks with President H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The UAE-Syrian relations, says the book, have always seen strong political, economic and cultural coordination which revolves around Arab nationalism and further bolster the foundations laid by President H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The book notes the summit talks held in Abu Dhabi in December 2006 by the two leaders on brotherly relations between their two countries and ways to further boost them in the political and economic areas.

Sheikh Khalifa's visit to Syria in July 2007 and his meeting with President Assad also come as a further boost to the already strong UAE-Syrian bilateral relations, remarked the new book.

The new book also sheds light on political, economic and cultural aspects of the UAE-Syrian relations which always lay emphasis on the need for stronger joint Pan-Arab action in the economic and investment fields in particular.

The noted the various agreements signed by the UAE and Syria as of the 1990's. The agreements on economic, trade and technological cooperation, free zones, double-taxation and protection of joint investments have added further boost to the strong UAE-Syrian relations. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
