Uzbek PM meets Sheikha Lubna

Tashkent - Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyayev received here Thursday UAE Minister of Foreign Trade HE Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, who is in Uzbekistan to lead the UAE delegation to the first meeting of the joint ministerial committee. The meeting reviewed progress of bilateral relations in economy and trade and outcome of the meeting of the joint ministerial committee.

Sheikha Lubna said these results would provide a fresh boost to bilateral relations mainly in commercial and economic domains and cooperation between private sectors in the two countries. 'The visit made by Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to Uzbekistan last year signalled a strong departure for strengthening bilateral relations, Sheikha Lubna said.



She added that a joint taskforce would be formulated to reinvigorate agreements and remove barriers hindering progress of bilateral relations. She lauded the Uzbek government efforts towards economic reforms noting that more than 1000 public utilities are now on offer for the private sector. 'We will present these offers to the private sector in the UAE and spur it to invest in them,' she indicated. Sheikha Lubna updated the Uzbek premier on the latest economic developments in the UAE.



For his part, the Uzbek premier said Sheikha Lubna's visit had provided an excellent opportunity for discussing ways of enhancing UAE-Uzbekistan relations in all fields. 'The UAE is not a just an oil state but also a prominent trade hub known to the whole world,' he said. He also stressed the need for putting agreements signed between the two countries in March in place. He affirmed that his government was keen to develop relations with the UAE in areas of economy, trade and investment. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
