Victory wins Kuwaiti Coast Guard contract for 16 patrol craft

The UAE's Victory team yesterday confirmed a Kuwaiti Coast Guard order through Kuwaiti agent Al Quatami Sons, for 16 high speed fast intervention patrol craft, with the first delivery scheduled for March, 2005. Participating and showcasing the first Victory Team built P-46 Patrol craft at the IDEX 2005 military show held here, the Victory Team said in a statement that the deal was signed for the order of the boats from the Victory Teams Commercial Division in April 2004, but information was not disclosed until recently. The 46-foot patrol craft is designed for use in coastal patrol, search and rescue, as well as high-speed intervention and pursuit purposes.

Although delivery of the first of the P-46 boats was scheduled for January, the handover date has been postponed in order to be displayed at IDEX, a courtesy extended by the Kuwaiti Coast Guard. Instead, delivery of the first of the 16 Victory Team built fleet will now take place at the beginning of March 2005, with a further delivery of approximately one boat per month until the complete handover of all 16 vessels scheduled by June 2006.

Owned by the government of Dubai, Victory Team is renowned not only as a racing team, but also as builders of the best race boats in the world.

And now, with the opening of the Victory Team Commercial Division in 2002, the team look set to conquer yet another plateau, this time in the equally competitive world of commercial boat building and development. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
