Hanoi - President of Vietnam Nguyen Minh Triet received yesterday at the presidential palace in Hanoi, UAE Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri and the accompanying delegation participating in the First Round meetings of the UAE-Vietnam Joint Commission.

Al Mansouri conveyed to the Vietnamese President, greetings from President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, as well as their best wishes for the progress and prosperity of Vietnam.

He expressed appreciation of the achievements of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and admired the great strides Vietnam has made to reinforce its process of development and to achieve prosperity for its people.

Mansouri also stressed the keenness of the UAE and its wise leadership to develop and strengthen relations with Vietnam at all levels especially in the economic, commercial, investment and infrastructure avenues.

The minister said that the economic gravity has shifted to the Arab region, the South and East Asia, and thus the coordination between the UAE and Vietnam draws greater importance, especially in the light of the vital geographic location of the UAE in the Arab region as well as the location of Vietnam in East Asia.

The two countries can throw a vital bridge to strengthen not only the bilateral ties between them, but to strengthen ties and relations between the Arab region and the East Asia in general; Al Mansouri said.

The Minister pointed out that the first meeting of the Joint Commission between the two countries reflects a serious desire to develop relations and broaden their horizons to serve the interests of the two countries, pointing out that the visit by Foreign Minister to Vietnam last October, as well as his talks with the President and the Prime Minister played an important role in strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Minister reiterated that the UAE has a clear plan for the development of bilateral relations with Vietnam in accordance with the vision of long-term strategy to ensure its continuity and growth on the basis of equality and the achievement of mutual interests, particularly on the economic front.

The Vietnamese President asked the minister to convey his greetings to President and Vice President of UAE and his best wishes for the prosperity of the UAE.

He welcomed the visit of the UAE delegation to Vietnam to participate in the first meeting of the Joint Committee in Hanoi and wished that the relations between the two countries will prosper. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
