The Ministry of Health has confirmed that the UAE is free of any suspected SARS case. Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Preventive Medicine Affairs Dr Mahmoud Fikri said the ministry was in constant contact with the World Health Organisation and international health organisations to follow up the developments on the disease worldwide. The ministry issued a circular to all authorities concerned to stop examining those coming from Singapore after the country was lifted from the list of the countries infected with the disease, he said.

He added that the ministry had previously instructed the authorities to stop examining those coming from Vietnam. Fikri explained that those coming from Hong Kong, China and Taiwan were currently being examined for SARS at the UAE airports and checkpoints. He added that the country is still implementing precautionary measures. (The Gulf Today)
