Abu Dhabi (WAM) As part of the overall Refugees Crisis Management initiative, the World Health Organization (WHO) has strengthened its sub-offices in NWFP and Baluchistan with the ultimate objective of providing the best possible health care facilities to the new Afghan refugees who are expected to enter Pakistan, the Associated Press of Pakistan, APP, reported. WHO Afghanistan office has appointed five of its staffers in each of these offices. They will work in close co-ordination with the WHO Officers of Pakistan who already active in these provinces along with the provincial health departments, other UN agencies and NGOs. Through these NGOs the health care services will be provided in the refugees camps, the report said. All these arrangements are part of the WHO's Contingency Plan devised for the emergency preparedness and response. WHO in collaboration with UNICEF and the provincial health departments are in a process of making necessary arrangements to vaccinate the children against measles. The health departments of NWFP and Baluchistan have stationed 24 vaccination teams at various entry points along the Pak-Afghan border. WHO is actively participating in the daily activities of the UN Humanitarian Emergency task force. Besides, it is also in close contact with Department of Emergency and Humanitarian Action at regional and headquarters levels, the agency report said. WAM
