Health authorities yesterday launched a new website to update the public on news about Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). By logging into the public will find useful information about the disease, preventive measures undertaken throughout the country and constant update on the international developments. The site also displays the emergency number 02 6391633, established by the General Authority for Health Services (GAHS) for reporting any suspected cases.

Meanwhile, Dr Mahmoud Fikri, Assistant Undersecretary for Preventive Medicine, repeated yesterday that no SARS case has been reported so far in the country. Ahmed Al Rumaithi, Director of GAHS, said the new website is part of the continuous efforts of the authority to create awareness about the disease and provide the public with updated information. The website covers the local developments and latest information and measures implemented by the Ministry of Health to prevent the disease. (The Gulf News)
