Yas Marina Circuit is all set to host the Formula1 Etihad Airways Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi as it gave the finishing touches to the preparations for the world's first Day/Night race.
Yas Island is a unique project within the existing project portfolio of Aldar Properties, where Yas Marina Circuit represents the completion of the first phase of development of the island which started since 2007.
On Friday afternoon the ten teams participating in the race will run the test rounds, where each round will last for an hour and a half.
On Saturday morning, the warming up rounds for the participating cars will be held, while in the evening the qualifying rounds are set to enthral the spectators.
On Sunday 1st November, the final rounds of the much awaited event will begin before the sunset, and the two hour visual feast will continue without a break in the flood lit circuit, presenting to the world the first Day/Night race in the history of Formula1.
The Yas Marina Circuit is designed to international standards to host Formula 1 races as well as several other recreational activities throughout the year, and facilities include Sun Tower circuit and several other amenities.
Developers describe Yas Marina Circuit as the perfect combination of style and function. The Formula 1 track is 5.55km long. This track can be split in to smaller tracks at 3.1km and 2.4 km each which can operate simultaneously where desired.
Approximately 50,000 spectators can view the action on the circuit from the comfort of permanent, covered grandstands and VIP facilities. Yas Marina Circuit is the only motorsports venue in the world where all of the grandstands are covered. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
