Yemeni officials hail Khalifa Foundation's aid

SOCOTRA: Yemeni officials and the population of Socotra have received, with extreme joy, the 14th relief plane sent by the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, (KF), to Socotra which carried 75 tonnes of food and medical supplies.

A KF source said that in line with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and follow up of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, yesterday a relief plane carrying 60 tonnes of foodstuff and 15 tonnes of medication, was sent to Yemen to be distributed to the people who are suffering a shortage of food because of the circumstances there.

The source added that the relief plane was in continuation of the aid directed earlier by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa to the Yemeni people in his keenness to alleviate their suffering in the difficult circumstances that they are currently undergoing with regard to the provision of basic needs, foodstuff and medicines, as well as make all attempts to ensure security and stability.

The relief plane was received by Saeed Salem Bahgaibah Governor of Socotra, Dr. Ali Saeed Mukhaini, Director General of Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Hospital and other officials.

The medical aid will be distributed in Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Hospital in Hadibu and its other medical centres. The KF source also added that the KF will continue to enhance work performance in the hospital in order to streamline provision of service in co-ordination with officials at Socotra Governorate.

He reiterated that the KF provides assistance in line with the international efforts exerted to alleviate the suffering of the Yemenis. He also indicated that the aid came within the wise leadership's approach aimed to support the needy and in the light of the UAE's strategy and policy to provide humanitarian assistance to peoples across the world.

Officials in Socotra extended thanks and appreciation to the UAE's unforgettable humanitarian stance towards the Yemeni people.

In his remarks to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, Saeed Salem Bahgaibah Governor of Socotra extended thanks and appreciation to the UAE's leadership, government and people, praising the efforts exerted by President Khalifa bin Zayed, and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, to provide assistance, as well as contribute efforts towards achieving peace and development in Yemen.

He added that the UAE has been providing aid to Yemen and its various governorates through its humanitarian initiatives. Other Yemeni officials also voiced their appreciation and thanks to the UAE for its continuous support to Yemen. – Emirates News Agency, WAM -
