The world renowned South Korean cyclist Okhwan Yoon, who has travelled to 191 countries by bicycle, arrived in the UAE on Wednesday to promote peace across the world. He arrived from Oman by bicycle and his next destinations are Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait This is the fifth sojourn of Okhwan Yoon in the UAE in his mission to propagate the message of world peace.

"UAE is most industry-environment harmonious country. Most safest I had ever visited" said the peace activist who is on his way to visit four more nations in his list of 195 countries, which includes 192 UN member states. For Okhwan Yoon, the way to spread the word of peace is to get on the road and bring the message to others.

Cycling around 200km per day, the 48-year old Okhwan Yoon has no plan to rest as he will begin a second leg of his mission, on a saddle-less bicycle this time. "America is the climax of my journey," he said.

"Now, for the finale of my journey for peace of the world is saddle -less cycling around world from Bhutan again", said Yoon, who is also a philosopher, writer, political analyst, and peace activist.

He was impressed with the events organized to celebrate the national day.

"The colourful events are like a rainbow in the desert" Korean cyclist told WAM.

He visited WAM yesterday where he was briefed about the milestones in the birth of the UAE federation.

"UAE has a very open and active policy towards others and is setting example for Arab World", said Yoon.

Yoon is a graduate of law school, and owned a clothing trading company in South Korea before embarking on his trip.

In the summer of 2010, Okhwan visited Bhutan, the 191st country on his journey that has spanned over six continents. He has been to every U.N. country aside from North Korea.

A man who was tortured for demonstrating against the military regime in South Korea quarter a century ago, has hopes to join the South Korea Parliament.
